DAILY PROGRAM
The daily programs offered at BUSY BEE are flexible but planned. They
vary with the childs age, but all children are exposed to at least two
art activities a day, music, science, fine and gross motor activities,
language development and auditory activities. As they approach
kindergarten age, the program becomes more structured and emphasizes
cognitive skills they will need to succeed in school.
We take advantage of our California locale and large shaded play yard.
Weather permitting, children play and learn outside as much as possible.
We have water play and swimming in the summer, as well.
YOUR CHILD'S DAY
From 7 to 9 a.m. we have breakfast (7-8:15) and free play
At 9:00 a.m. we break up into small groups determined by age and
ability:
Teddy Bears and Butterflies, approximately ages two to three.
Lions and Tigers, approximately ages three to four.
Rabbits and Chipmunks, approximately ages four to five.
At 9:30 a.m. we serve a morning snack, usually consisting of crackers
and juice.
At 11:30 a.m. we serve nutritious and well-balanced lunches that
emphasize variety and freshness and include fruits, vegetables and
plenty of fluids.
From 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. everyone naps on mats with sheets and
blankets from home. We ask that you do not bring your child to Busy Bee
during nap time because this disturbs the other children. Your child
must arrive before nap starts--preferably before 11am--or after naptime
is over.
At 2:30 p.m. we serve an afternoon snack, which may be a hard-boiled
egg, peanut butter and apples and juice or milk.
At 5 p.m. we serve a late afternoon snack.
ADJUSTING TO SCHOOL
Your child will be starting what will hopefully be a good experience.
Each child reacts differently to new situations. Adjustment is personal
and can take anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. It can be as hard
for the parent to leave the child as for the child to leave the parent.
Separation can be an emotional event. Your child will sense any sadness
or apprehension that you feel. Your support and encouragement will make
the transition easier. The staff is ready to assist your child at our
"waving window". In this way, children become active participants,
rather than victims, in the process of separation. You are welcome to
call anytime during the day to see how your child is doing.
A WORD ABOUT NUTRITION
Full day children receive approximately two-thirds of their food intake
at school. We take special care in planning hot nutritious well balanced
home-style meals. BUSY BEE staffs a full-time cook to ensure that meal
preparation and planning is done in a purposeful manner.
Immunizations
Every child's inoculations must be current and
up-to-date to attend Busy Bee. There are NO exceptions. |
